Our Founders

Jodi Richard, Devin Merriman, Ada Merriman, and Christopher Truffa have experienced nature's healing power firsthand. During the pandemic, Jodi encouraged family and friends to support one another by motivating and guiding each other through tough times with exercise, awareness of their mental states, and the importance of connecting with nature.

This practice helped them so much that they decided to work together to create We Move to Heal in hopes that they could help others learn more about the healing power of movement and nature.

Inner child work is a powerful therapeutic approach that aims to heal unresolved emotional wounds from childhood. By acknowledging and addressing these past traumas, individuals can experience profound personal growth and emotional healing.  Insights from a conversation between Kendall Jenner and Jay Shetty on their YouTube video provides a good look at this.

Understanding Inner Child Work: Inner child work is based on the idea that each of us carries an "inner child" within us—a representation of the child we once were. This inner child retains the memories, emotions, and experiences of our early years, influencing our thoughts, behaviors, and relationships as adults. Unresolved issues from childhood, such as neglect, trauma, or unmet emotional needs, can create emotional blocks that hinder personal development.

The Importance of Inner Child Healing: Healing the inner child is vital for various reasons:

  1. Emotional Release: By revisiting past emotional wounds, individuals can release pent-up feelings, leading to a greater sense of emotional freedom.
  2. Improved Relationships: Resolving inner child issues can lead to healthier relationships, as individuals become more self-aware and better able to communicate their needs.
  3. Increased Self-Compassion: Inner child work fosters self-compassion and self-love, encouraging individuals to treat themselves with kindness and understanding.
  4. Breaking Negative Patterns: Many negative patterns in adulthood can be traced back to childhood experiences. Inner child work helps break these patterns and establish healthier habits.
  5. Enhanced Well-Being: As inner child wounds heal, individuals often experience reduced anxiety, depression, and a greater overall sense of well-being.

Our Journey Quiz

By taking the Journey quiz, we will help you identify a nature guide that can help you through the challenges of creating a healthy habit lifestyle. Your guide will help you balance the type of exercise that is right for your level, provide understanding to mental awareness and expose you to an environment that enables you to connect on a deeper level with your surroundings. Our program gives you a new outlook on your exercise routine through walking and running, mindfulness activities, and an understanding of the natural world and the power that connects all of them.

Benefits of Exercise

Exercise is scientifically proven to improve not only your physical well-being but also your mental well-being. Just 150 minutes of regular exercise per week can:

  •  Improve your mood and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.
  •  Support healthy metabolism and help you maintain your muscle mass.
  •  Build muscles and strong bones and may also help prevent osteoporosis.
  •  Increase your energy levels.
  •  Help you maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
  •  Provide antioxidant protection and promote blood flow, which can protect your skin and delay signs of aging.
  •  Improve blood flow to the brain, help brain health and memory, and can help preserve mental function in older adults.
  •  Help you sleep better and feel more energized during the day.
  •  Have favorable effects on the pain associated with various conditions and can also increase pain tolerance.
